Hey guys, As of right now I’m sitting in a hotel lobby in Taraunga, NZ. The beach around here is right where the large ship just split and it’s containers are washing up to this shore. (fun geographical fact)
On the plane ride from Brisbane, AUS, to Auckland, NZ I found this scripture that I believe will be the weight of my faith in the next season. For those of you that don’t know I’ll be moving to L.A. at the end of February with my Pastor and a team to plant a church! I approached him a couple of months ago, prior to knowing that he was leaving, and I told him what I believed God was going to use me to do. I told him that I feel that God has called me to ‘influence the influencers’. I’ve realized that this small section of California, L.A., is capable of getting whatever message they want all around the world. No matter where you live or who you are, you’ll know when the next movie is what, what theatre you can see it at and what time. Billboards, magazines, movies, tv shows, all of it is impacting our culture one way or another. I understood that being a 22 year old kid living in Modesto, CA, didn’t make much sense to believe that I could impact the lives of those making millions of dollars more than me, but, I know I serve a God who is bigger.
God’s also shown me that I might not influence the Brad Pitt of today but instead the Brad Pitt of tomorrow. So while a kid is still young and dreaming to make it big in Hollywood I could introduce him to Jesus and begin to disciple him. Then when he does make it big he’ll already have a firm foundation in the Lord and we’ll in-turn have a friendship.
Now to the scripture, “You must influence them; do not let them influence you!” Jeremiah 15:19. I feel that at times things might get difficult, but as long as I can hold onto Jesus then I can see this scripture through to L.A.
Thank you again for all of your prayers and help in getting me here. I’m growing and learning everyday.
